Visual Editor is missing
-
I have gone into User personal settings and the ‘disable visual editor’ box is not checked.
What else could be causing the visual editor not to work?
I can get by with the HTML editor but I am not an expert and would rather use the WYSIWYG version.
Any help gratefully received.

Have you checked to be sure the Visual editor is not disabled?
Users > Personal Settings
Visual Editor __ Disable the visual editor when writing -
That was the first thing I did. That box is not checked.
Any other ideas on what might be causing it?

Yes. A browser issue could be the problem. Try these troubleshooting tips and if your browser version is outdated then upgrade it here. If that doesn’t work then do you have another browser you can try?

Hmmm, okay – I have tried Explorer, Opera and Firefox and in all of them the Visual Editor is not showing up. It looked like it nearly came up in Explorer but then went back to the HTML version. If it is not working in three different browsers does that mean it is my computer or virus software perhaps??

Hello gain. Will you please post an active link starting with http:// for the blog in question? -
Try this: Clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then go to users > personal settings and select to “disable” the visual editor and then save your changes. Now navigate to the editor page, let it fully load and then navigate back to users > personal settings and change it back to allow the visual editor and again save the change. Then go back to the editor page and see if things come up. I’ve noticed lately that it sometimes can take a little while for the editor toolbars to load and in some cases I’ve seen it take as much as 30 seconds.

Thanks for that, thesacredpath. Tried it but did not work. This is getting silly now!

I am stumped. Might have to go to an I.T. professional :{

I am having the same difficulty. Am using Safari. Tried clearing my cache.
I usually use the HTML editor but using it I couldn’t get the “Upload/Insert” button to work for add an image. So I tried to use the Visual Editor and it doesn’t work either. What’s going on? -
Try a different browser and see what happens. I would recommend Firefox as a trial since it is probably the most stable with wordpress.

Thanks for the reply and the hint about Firefox. The problem seems to have resolved itself by quitting Safari and then restarting it. (At least the picture loading button is working. Won’t bother with the visual editor – I don’t like using it.)
I hope that the first poster had similar results.Thanks.

No – still no joy for me. Safari is one I have not tried using so maybe I will give that a go. Firefox, Opera, Explorer all have the same issue…… no visual editor!!

Hmmm, okay. That is a good point. I created the website in Australia but I am currently living in England (for another two weeks anyway).
So do you think it might work again when I return to Australia? Bizarre!!
