Visual Menu Unavailable
-
We are considering using wordpress for teacher blogs at my school. The issue we are having is with the editor. When I access my blog at school, I cannot get access to the visual menu, only the HTML menu. I can see both tabs, but I can only select one. Yet, when I bring my school laptop home, and use the same hardware and browser to access wordpress on my home internet connection, all is fine with the editor. Any ideas? It must be something to do with how my laptop accesses wordpress on the school network, or am I missing something else? The visual menu is not disabled in user settings, because I have been there and checked it, toggled it, and tried it with and without with no luck.
I also can’t access screen settings and help on the dashboard menu. The buttons are there, but are non responsive when I click them. When typing in the HTML window, text is invisible, but does appear if I select disable visual editor.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It’s almost certainly some security measure your school’s ISP has put in. Can you contact them and get them to set wordpress.com as a safe or trusted site?

Yes, I will suggest that to them. It is just strange that most of the site works as normal but not these features. Usually sites are just blocked outright by the firewall, but I will check.

The visual editor uses a lot of javascript, and if they are blocking javascript, that would cause this to happen. When you talk to IT, ask them about that.
