I notice you post alot on here and I checked out your blog and I love the look of it. How did you get everything to flow together so well? Your’s pretty much takes on the look I am going for, granted I don’t have nearly as much content as you but in time I probably will. Any suggestions? Not totally like yours, just put together as well as yours, ya know?

Do you have the paid CSS upgrade? Vivian’s worked hard to customise her CSS to get the look she was after.

  • Unknown's avatar

No I don’t have that. Hopefully I will be able to get it soon but for the meantime I guess I have to work with what I have. I just dont understand why mine looks so jumbled up, nothing is even and there are duplicates of things. Like you can check out my archives from a billion locations, I sincerely don’t get it. I am trying really hard to understand this all. But yeah, her page looks REALLY good.

First of all, your blog itself doesn’t look jumbled to me. You’re using the DepoMasthead theme and you were wise to cut off each entry with the “More” tag. (The designer does recommend doing that.)

Since I’m not sure how the widgets work with that theme, you might want to try moving some of them from the right sidebar to the middle and left sidebar so the bottom bit is more evenly balanced. You do seem to have some widgets more than once, which I’m not sure how that happened, but you should be able to remove the duplicates easily enough.

That theme comes with it’s own archive widget it’s a bonus widget
just like the Albeo, Theme got a bonus widget,

To remove the widget got to Dashboard, -> Design, -> Widgets,
No look for the widget called Depo Archives & categories
once you find it click edit then remove the save changes at
    the bottom of the screen.

Ok thank you jennifer and teck, lol. I didn’t know I could move the widgets to different locations and I didn’t know the theme already came with the archive widget lol. I will jump right on that, thank you both!

    Oops Typo correction
Note to staff please allow us to have a edit feature.

    You’re welcome, shesthinking, :)

Ok, quick question. I am assuming that in order to move a widget you have to select “edit” and then “change”? I don’t see any other way to do it. I’m clicking “change” and nothing is happening, the edit option collapses. Am I doing something wrong here?

  • Unknown's avatar

Nope you need to click remove on the right side after clicking edit on the
widget then save changes at the bottom of the screen.

  • Unknown's avatar

An for the purpose of changing the order of the widgets in that
column just drag the widget then click save changes at the bottom
    of the screen.

Please excuse my voice I’m currently suffering from a head cold.

LOL no please, ignore that last question. I figured it out. I can’t believe I was seriously clicking “change” and screaming at the monitor to “change”. Thank you so much though!

  • Unknown's avatar

Okay thanks for the up date we have all been there at times
    yelling at our monitors. LOL

  • Unknown's avatar

Glad to know y’all got this all sorted out without me ;)

And DO NOT buy the CSS upgrade until you KNOW what you are doing. There is no official support for it and only a few people in the forum are well versed in it (and those “few” doesn’t include me).

  • Unknown's avatar

Sorry for the late reply. Glad teck helped you work that out.

About the CSS thing, there are learning resources posted in the sticky at the top of the CSS forum, but as vivian said, do not buy the CSS upgrade until you know what you are doing. Even then, before buying, preview your customized stylesheet to make sure you have all the bugs worked out. You can preview before you buy all you want.
