vodpod cookies

I do not use vodpod and never will. However, every flipping day twice a day I am removing vodpod cookies from my computer. What the heck is going on? Has wordpress done some 3rd party deal with vodpod or what?

Might be coming from other blogs that use them. You should be able to just block them. I know IE has a disallow list. I’m sure that since *cough* FF is a much better browser than IE is that I’m sure you have that feature in there somewhere, right? ;)

Well I guess this is an off-topic divergence and it’s certainly not a high priority in terms of this forum. However, I’m not clear on where to find this at all and any help would be very much appreciated.

In FF 2 it’s under the tools menu – options – privacy – cookies – keep until – ask me every time – ok

Every time a site tries to set a cookie, it’ll pop up a box asking you accept/accept for session/deny. There’s also an option to repeat the action each time you visit a site so once you make a choice, it doesn’t bug you again.

    (edit to fix html)

    You’re very welcome!

I had mine set up like that for a while and was shocked at the number of cookies that get set.

The last hour has been very enlightening. I witnessed a tsunami of cookies. I’ve now set my browser to clear all cookies whenever I shut down firefox.

    Off-topic
I have observed that many bloggers posting to this forum have not linked their usernames to their wordpress.com blogs. Instead they have linked them to commercial websites with pop-ups and click tracking. IMO the forum profile boxes should be to be edited. The word “website” should be removed and replaced with “wordpress.com blog url only”. It pisses me that when I’m voluntarily trying to help someone and I click on their username that this kind of BS linkage is going on and I’m helping them earn money.

In fact, that should be automated; it would be good for WordPress.com if the only links usernames led to were actual WP blogs. That way, we could always tell who should be at WP.org (well, unless they had a private blog or Mature blog).
