VodPod videos and autoplay, is there a way to disable?
-
Hi, I’ve searched the forums, and still am unable to stop autoplay on some videos captured with VodPod. Is there a way to do this??? Thanks in advance!

This is the only thing I could find, and it applies to Ustream embeds. Maybe it will work with Vodpod if you put the new code in before putting the video in vodpod?

Oops, works ever so much better if I leave the link, eh?

Which video is autoplaying on your blog? Can you post the link so I can see it? It’s gonna depend on where the video embed comes from.

Hi Scott,
I have the same vodpod video problem. I want to stop the autoplay. Here is the code I got from the Save to WordPress button option:
<span style=”display:block;width:425px;margin:0 auto;”>[vodpod id=ExternalVideo.709550&w=425&h=350&fv=]</span>
and the video is autoplaying on makeadifferencein2008.wordpress.com
Can you tell me how to stop the autoplay?

I’m having the same problem. Here’s the embed code from my video
[vodpod id=Groupvideo.1638004&w=425&h=350&fv=deepLinkID%3D727421%26overridevideoControls%3Dcontrols%2Fcontrols_nbc_gray.swf%26overrideRandom%3D575422394653%26overridevolume%3D50%26passAlong_baseLocation%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fvideo.nbc.com%2Fembed%2Fplayer_3-x%2F%26playerID%3Dscet_main_videoPlayer%26passAlong_configID%3D16005%26autoStartOnEmbed%3Dnull]I tried removing the autoStartOnEmbed part and it didn’t help.
Hopefully, Scott will see this and get back to us with an answer.

Did anyone find a solution to this? Scott Persiner, maybe?
I was looking to embed something from ESPN.com

So the “auto play” problem usually happens when we’ve posted the “non-offcial” embed for a video.
@l2massociates – I don’t have a solution for the Rolling Stone videos. They don’t seem to offer any officially sharable embed code, and I don’t see any obvious way to modify their embed code so that it doesn’t autoplay.
@bigeater1 – You need to use the official embed code offered on the ESPN page. In the Post to WordPress (or Share Video) popup, click the little link under the video that says “video missing”, then cut-and-paste the code from the ESPN page. This will give you a nice official embed that doesn’t autoplay.
@viviapage – Similar advice. The advantage for the SNL VP Debate video is that someone already collected the official version over at Vodpod:
http://vodpod.com/watch/1059494-video-saturday-night-live-vp-debate-with-tina-fey-and-queen-latifah
so you can just use the button directly from that page, or click the “Collect this video” link and in the popup choose the “Post to Blog” tab.

If anyone is feeling adventurous, there’s a new version of the Share Video bookmarklet:
–for the Post to WordPress version
or–for the generic Share Video button (choose the bookmarklet, NOT the FF extension)
The new bookmarklet will highlight all the videos on the current page and let you choose the one you want to share. Relevant to this discussion, you can also click in any field that is showing an embed code, and it will grab that code for the popup. So for ESPN you can click directly in the “Embed” field and it will use that code.

Scott – thanks for coming over and commenting on this. Of course, the simple answer would be that there is a switch to disable autoplay.
