Wacky blog behavior (posts appearing/disappearing)

I just started a blog (http://therockbottom.wordpress.com/) and have noticed some really strange behavior so far. There are about four posts so far, but depending on when I refresh the page and what browser I use (Firefox/Safari) I see different posts on the main page. Sometimes it shows all posts correctly, other times it shows no posts, the at times it’ll show only one post. I’m not doing any other editing of posts in the meantime.
Also, when managing widgets, I’ll add some widgets and hit Save and it won’t save, so I’ll do it over and over again and it will never save properly. Then in a few minutes (without me having done anything) it’ll magically appear. It’s almost as if there’s some weird delay that I’m unaware of.
I only have experience running the standalone version of WordPress and it’s always been instant, so I’m not sure if this is something unique to WordPress.com.
If there’s something strange going on with the blog, is there any way to do a clean reinstall of the blog?

Just to follow up, it now shows all 4 posts on my site, but when I manage my posts, it only shows 3 posts there. And in my Archives in the sidebar it says “December 2008 (1)” even though there are clearly 4 posts visible.

Are you using the Sticky feature on any of your posts?

I just updated one of the blogroll links (replacing wordpress.com w/ a different site URI) and it refused to actually update on the site, even though if I went to edit the wordpress.com link again, all the changed info was still there. It wasn’t until I also updated the wordpress.org link that both links magically updated.
I’m new to WordPress.com but things just seem a whole lot more buggy than the standalone client.

This has been happening to me as well on a new blog I am using to warehouse all my poetry. I’ve used wordpress for years and have several other wordpress blogs. No trouble with those. But with this one, I have anywhere from 116 to 212 posts, and at any given point posts are disappearing and reappearing. It’s been happening all day. I find it extremely frustrating to watch my posts appear and disappear like this, especially with such important content. (It’s at http://fromthekillinglines.wordpress.com but is not open to the public.)

Sounds like it’s a bug confined to new blogs. This thread is related:

The other thing that may be occuring is that the data in the sidebars is cached, or at least it was before the latest update, and it could be that in a little while the sidebar stuff will update. If they are doing any server maintenance or such, this can also slow down the sidebar updating.

Okay now I just created a new post and hit “save draft” and it said I was trying to edit a post that didn’t exist and that it was perhaps deleted. I also tried to upload an image to embed in the post and while it uploaded and crunched, the image is nowhere to be found in my Media Library. Both the post deletion and image uploads have happened twice so far in the past 30 minutes. Something is definitely up. I contacted support about it yesterday and have heard nothing back so far. Is anyone else experiencing these problems? Thanks.

Okay, just checked and the posts are now under drafts but they weren’t there a minute ago (trust me, I checked). There seems to be some sort of weird delay going on where things eventually work, just after 10 minutes or so.

My blog has just started playing up too. Can’t post any new posts, can’t post comment, tried to delete a couple of widjets but the changes don’t save.Hmmmm I’ll wait a few hours & try again

Boogi, I had the exact same problem with my blog just now (saving a draft only to have it say that I was trying to edit a post that wasn’t there and might have been deleted, then when I could access it having image problems). I thought it was just my internet connection (which likes to go down randomly for a few seconds sometimes) but now I’m wondering if it was really a wordpress.com thing.

I think it is a WordPress thing. It’s happening to me too. I have tried to save the same draft a million times. I also tried to publish it and it just won’t work at all. Does anyone have a clue at this point when this will be resolved?

I did yesterday and haven’t heard anything back yet, but feel free to let them know about your issues as well. They might not even be related, and even if they are, I figure it couldn’t hurt.

I did today too. But no emails back either. I just wanted an easy, free, good-looking blog. I love the look of this free template, but this is pretty frustrating. Does this happen often with wordpress blogs? I have started other wordpress blogs without this problem happening. But because they weren’t as customizable for those who aren’t css or html equipped as other free blog services, I didn’t keep them long, so I wouldn’t know if this is just a rare occurence that will resolve itself or what. I know I don’t want to keep trying to post the same post only to have it disappear.

I don’t mean to come off in a threatening manner (because let’s face it, I have absolutely no leverage here) but it’s a little bit disheartening that several people have reported the same issue for over a day now and there has yet to be any official response. Are they even looking into this?
All I wanted was a simple, functional blog and so far my first few days have been filled with nothing but frustration. Posts are appearing/disappearing, entire posts are getting lost while editing, settings/widget preferences aren’t sticking, etc.

I think they are looking into it. Mine just saved. But, I’m still hoping that it’ll be here tomorrow…
