waiting for r-login.wordpress.com
-
Okay…sorry about this but now I’m getting a “waiting for r-login.wordpress.com” message in my browser over and over again when I try to connect to my blog site. http://www.dougresler.com. I purchased my domain through wordpress but can’t access it. I’ve cleared my cache, have cookies enabled, have been able to access it before just fine from my current browser (firefox) and the forums suggest this is a common issue. Solution?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there!
When I visit your domain http://dougresler.com/ I am taken to your WordPress.com site.
Can you click the link above and let me know precisely what you’re seeing?
If possible, send me a screenshot, so I can better understand the issue. You can simply upload the screenshot to your Media Library, like any other image, and I’ll be able to access it from there.
The page at the following link has some helpful tips for taking screenshots:
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

That’s the problem. I see nothing. The site never loads but ends up in this loop where it connects for an instant then cycles back with a message at the bottom of the browser stating, “waiting for r-login.wordpress.com.” I have searched the forums and googled it as well and see that it’s not an uncommon problem although no one seems to have a fix either.
My concern is that I paid for this domain site so I don’t want that money just to head down the drain. I am just getting started so I have a bit of a trial period left.
Other info that is probably helpful: It doesn’t matter what browser I use from my pc. I can access the site from my iphone and ipad but the changes to the design that I made through the WordPress site are not there and I have tried to reload them several times. Any thoughts? I purchased the domain through your link on WordPress as well.

Okay. I cleared my cache completely yet again and did reach the site. Screen shot is uploaded and again doesn’t reflect the changes I made through the dashboard to the design. Then when I went to WordPress and logged in and tried to go back to my site, got the same “waiting for r-login.wordpress.com” message again. I’m at a bit of a loss?

Hi Doug,
You mentioned that you have cookies enabled, but can you double-check to make sure that you have third-party cookies specifically enabled? We have a page about Third Party Cookies where you can check that and get instructions for enabling them in your browser.
Can you please let me know what results you get in the “Checking your browser…” section on that third-party cookies page?

Thanks Rachel. I checked and third party cookies are specifically enabled and set to “always” accept. Other ideas? When I can reach the site (through my iPad and iPhone) it again doesn’t reflect any of the changes I have made to the basic font or color scheme as well. Should I just nuke the site and start over again? Would that help do you think?

Hi Doug,
I see that Kevin is also helping you with this here:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/getting-started-41
It sounds like there are a couple issues. One is the “waiting for r-login.wordpress.com” message, and the other is that the customizations you made to your site aren’t visible on the front end.
As Kevin mentioned, you’ll need Custom Design (a feature of our WordPress.com Premium plan) to make those font and color changes visible on your site.
Once you’ve exited the Custom Design preview or upgraded your site, can you try again and see if you continue to get the “waiting for r-login.wordpress.com” message?

Still getting the message. I am pretty much close to deciding to nuke the site and ask for a refund because there just doesn’t seem to be an answer. I’ve googled the same question and it seems like this has come up before and I can’t find that anyone has found a solution. Any more thoughts before I cancel?

Hi Doug,
I’m sorry for the continued trouble with this. I’d like to check a few other things to see if we can pinpoint what’s causing the trouble:
- Please try using a different browser to visit your site. Do you have the same issue in the other browser?
- Please try using a different computer or a mobile device to access your site. Does the same message appear?
- Do you still get the message if you go to another location with a different internet service provider (e.g. a library, a friend’s house, or a coffee shop) and access your site there?
In some cases, other users ran into this issue because of a specific feature their internet service provider (HughesNet) had enabled. It looks like you’re using a different ISP, but those three steps will help us identify if this problem is specific to your Firefox browser, your computer, or possibly your internet service provider. That will get us closer to a solution for you.
