  Things you make yourself? Or do you want to set up a catalog of things you purchase for resale?

  After you consider these questions and read the information, please feel free to ask questions about WordPress.com in these forums. But to put the issue clearly (bluntly) you would most likely find a better place hosting your own site and using wp.ORG for marketing.

  To answer your question about free themes, there are a number of free themes which you can use on WordPress.ORG. There are also lots available on WordPress.COM (keeping in mind the TOS restrictions).
  edited to add that wp.com themes won’t work on wp.org sites, and vice versa

  As for which theme is best, that is something you must decide for yourself, taking into account what you want to do with your site.
