Want all posts on home page
-
Hi,
I have the Snaps theme with a static front page. I would like all my portfolio posts to appear on my home page, not just my recent posts. Notice the arrow on the bottom left that says “older posts”… I don’t want a separate page for these, I want them all to appear at once.
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi
So what you say you want is a way to show your portfolios, but on the same page. That sounds like a job for Infinite Scroll! Your current theme does not support this feature, but there are several that do. If you run this search, you get 33 to choose from.Hope this helps!

Hello again
I apologize for the possibly misleading suggestion of finding a different theme.
You can enable infinite scroll in Snap by
Going to your wp-admin page
https://licksbylyss.wordpress.com/wp-admin
going to your settings – reading page and check the box that says scroll infinitely.Note that you cannot have a footer with infinite scroll, so your footer will have to go.
best,

Hi there, It looks like you are using the Portfolio page template as a front page on your site, and as there is no mention of the portfolio template on the infinite scroll support guide, I’ve tagged this for Staff input.
Staff: Either way it would be useful to mention in the support guide on infinite scroll whether or not portfolio template pages are supported. TIA :)

Hi folks, we had to do a bit of digging on this one. Here’s what we found:
@licksbylyss infinite scroll wont work on the front page portfolio template. But you can increase the number of portfolio items to display here:
https://licksbylyss.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-writing.phpI’d still keep the number somewhat conservative so you don’t take out anyone’s mobile data plan with a single page load :)
As for updating the support document, infinite scroll will generally work for the posts page, but it may or may not work on other page templates.
The technical explanation is that it doesn’t work if the page template uses custom queries. I don’t know how to phrase that in a way that would be helpful to anyone. But this is an edge case, and the support document does repeatedly refer to posts anyway, so I think we’ll leave it as is.

You bet. Sorry I couldn’t think of a good way to explain that in the support document, but hopefully the background information helps here.

Ok so to be sure i have this right…
Infinite scroll works with posts, but other page templates (portfolio and testimonials) do not work because the page template queries interfere – across all themes.d
-
Not quite. We can safely say infinite scroll won’t work with custom queries, but not every theme uses custom queries to display a portfolio, so … yeah it’s a bit tricky.

Thanks again @supernovia. Guess this will need some testing first before answering should this question ever come up again. Thanks for the learning experience @dave2swords. :)

@supernovia – thanks for the insights!
@justjennifer – it’s all about learning and passing it on! You are one of the few people besides staff i really watch so Thank You!
