Want posts to show Excerpt, not full post?
-
I just switched themes to Sorbet (I think that’s what it’s called), and before, it only showed excerpts until you clicked on one, on the homepage. Now it shows the whole post, and I know there’s some way to do it, I just can’t remember. Is it possible with this theme? If so, how do I fix it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @lovinglyodd,
Excerpts can be created by inserting the “More” tag into posts. For full details, please see:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/more-tag/
I hope this helps :)

@garysixtyeight thank you, but that’s not what I’m confused about. My question is: on the homepage, how do I make it so it shows the post excerpt, not the full post? I do understand how to write an excerpt.

To create excerpts, please insert the “More” tag into posts, as explained in the documentation at the link below
https://en.support.wordpress.com/more-tag/
If it doesn’t work for you, please post a screenshot showing how and where you have added the “more tag”.

I set up a test site with Sorbet.
It doesn’t appear to use custom excerpts if they have been added, but the “More” tag can be used to ” truncate your blog entries so that only the first part of a posts is displayed on the home and archive pages.”

Oh, I see what you’re saying now. Sorry, I’m pretty new to this blogging thing. Thanks for helping me out!
