  i’d like my readers to be able to post unmoderated blog entries. Is this possible? Is it possible if I pay for the domain and don’t have the .wordpress in my website?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  No and no.
  If you want a wiki there are free ones on the internet.
  If you want a forum there are free ones on the internet.
  WordpPress.com is for blogging.

  Here we can add official users to our wordpress.com blogs and assign them roles but they do need to register wordpress.com usernames. They don’t need to register blogs

  Hm, you’re asking for a potential mess, but you could use the P2 theme, that does have a setting which will allow any registered WordPress.com user to post to it.
