Want separate domains

  Some time ago, I helped my daughter set up “brookeridgeway.com” as a domain for her wordpress.com blog. I used my email address to help her with this.

  Today I decided to create my own blog. When I logged in, the website took me to my daughter’s blog, but I navigated to create a new domain. There, I requested registration for a new domain, “lindsayridgeway.com”.

  But now when I go to “lindsayridgeway.com”, it takes me to my daughter’s blog.

  I am a software developer and experienced with creating and using web applications, but I cannot figure out from your documentation how to set up wordpress.com so that “brookeridgeway.com” goes to my daughter’s blog, and “lindsayridgeway.com” goes to my blog.

  I considered canceling my registration for “lindsayridgeway.com” in order to buy some time while I tried again, but the notice said that I may not be able to obtain that domain again. Since I want to use that domain, I decided not to cancel my registration yet. I hope you will respond soon enough that I will still be able to cancel it if that’s what I need to do, in order to associate it with a different blog.

  I can take care of this for you. Just to confirm, you want lindsayridgeway.com mapped to spiritualfoodie.wordpress.com.

  Is that correct?

  No, not at all. I want “lindsayridgeway.com” mapped to a brand new blog I haven’t added any content to yet.

  I see. This was an order of operations problem then.

  In order to map the domain to the new site, the new site needs to be created with a .wordpress.com domain. Once it exists, we can map lindsayridgeway.com to it.

  Please create the new site and let me know when it’s there. After that I can transfer the domain for you.

  Ah, I think I’m starting to understand.

  OK, I think I’ve created the new site: “https://lindsayridgeway.wordpress.com/”

  That’s the site I want “lindsayridgeway.com” to go to. The other domains should continue to go where they go now.
