Want some information before upgrading to entrepreneur Plan

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi Team,

I want to upgrade my free plan to entrepreneur plan but I have few questions in my mind.

    1. What’s the main difference between creator and entrepreneur plan
    2. Is Videopress subscription comes under creator and entrepreneur plans or I have to buy Videopress plan separately
    3. And what is the difference between standard woocommerce payment vs standard payments.
    4. Is there upper cap on how many customers can checkout at the same time (on both plans)

I would highly appreciate if you can clear my confusion on these topics, so that I can make better decision.

    Thank You!

  • Hi there,

    1. What’s the main difference between creator and entrepreneur plan

Just a quick note that we recently updated our plan names, so Creator is now called Business and Entrepreneur is now called Commerce. I mention this so you’re not surprised when you look at those again!

Both the Business plan and Commerce plan include our hosting services, 24/7 support, 50GB of storage, live backups, plugin and custom theme capabilities, and more hosting features.

They can both also run WooCommerce with all the basic tools you need to run a store such as product management, checkout, cart, and shipping price calculations.

The Commerce plan adds a bundle of handy tools to your store for an additional $240 a year. If you were to buy these tools separately, you’d be spending over $1000 more. You can see those here: https://wordpress.com/support/plan-features/ecommerce-plan/. These tools were selected to help optimize order size, purchasing behavior, and customer experience. They build on the core WooCommerce functions to support a more fully featured business.

The bundle includes operational tools like alerts to let customers know when something they wanted is back in stock, sending them a nudge at just the right time. Purchase limits can be handy, too. They guide customers to buy in quantities that make sense for your stock levels. The bundle also includes features that let customers personalize their purchases or bundle items turn a single sale into a larger transaction. Beyond that, the tool to create gift cards could be a new avenue for customer engagement, brand categorizations might make navigation easier for shoppers looking for familiar labels. And, product recommendations aren’t just upsells; they’re a way to show customers you know what they might like, fostering a better shopping experience.

    2. Is Videopress subscription comes under creator and entrepreneur plans or I have to buy Videopress plan separately

This is included with both plans, and videos added don’t count against your site’s storage limit!

    3. And what is the difference between standard woocommerce payment vs standard payments.

WooPayments is a payment gateway that we developed. It runs on top of Stripe, so it is super-secure and serves many currencies and countries. It’s specifically built to be integrated with WooCommerce, and so it gives you more order management tools within WooCommerce.

I’m not sure which gateway you’re comparing it to, but some useful things to compare are security, fees, currencies, and ease of use/support. Here are some useful guides for this. Here is where you can find WooPayment’s fees: https://woocommerce.com/document/woopayments/fees-and-debits/fees/

    4. Is there upper cap on how many customers can checkout at the same time (on both plans)

Both plans run on the same hosting infrastructure, which you can learn about at WordPress.com/hosting. We provide hosting which scales rapidly to handle traffic spikes, and which uses our WP.cloud platform to ensure fast, reliable loading of your site.

WooCommerce also has High Performance Order Storage, which improves order handling for situations where many customers are ordering in a short period of time: https://woocommerce.com/document/high-performance-order-storage/

I know this is a bit of a generalized answer, so if you have an idea of how many orders you expect per hour, we can work with you on a more specific answer. You can reply here or email us at help@wordpress.com if you’d like to do that.

Do let us know if you have any other questions!
