Want to add additional Featured pages (widgets)
-
I tried to search wp.com, and I even checked .org.
EXISTING: I’m using the Edin theme by Wp, and they allow 1). up to 3 added pages to the index/featured page in columns in one row. 2). I also hacked away to add 3 testimonials (I say hack because I couldn’t download or had a way to make my testimonials go across/width 100%).
MY QUESTION: I would like to add a 3rd “row” or widget in betwen #1 and #2. This added row would be a 100% image width, with possibly copy on top of it like the featured image.
I’m having a hard time finding the answer because I don’t know the terminology, or how the page is composed: footer, header, body, etc.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, this would require extensive modification to the php script files and a good working knowledge of php, and that is only possible with the WordPress.com Business plan upgrade, or by self-hosting your own installation of WordPress on a different web host. It is not something that can be done with CSS alone.
It might be worthwhile to consider some other themes. I would suggest looking at Shoreditch (unlimited panels on Panel page template) and Pique, which has 8 panels on the Home Page template.

thesacredpath, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!! My other sites are on a business plan, but I want to go with your suggestions. I will check out those two, and I’ll have to try and save my CSS tweaks before switching to one of those two.

You are welcome, and WordPress will save your custom CSS revisions, so it should be just a matter of selecting the last CSS revision file for that particular theme in the Revisions page.
Just for safety though, I always copy out all the CSS and paste it into a plain text file when switching themes.
