Want to add widget to theme without sidebar
-
Hi, The only theme that I find appropriate for my blog doesn’t have a side bar. Can I add a widget. I have etsy mini that I want to add. If it can be done can someone please explain how I can do it. Thanks so much.

No I’m sorry you can’t do that. Some themes have widgets and some do not. Those that do have widgets can only display them in the sidebar and not any where else. If you have a selected a theme without widgets then I’m afraid you are out of luck.

You’re welcome.
It just occurred to me that we do have a couple of themes with widgets in the footer. However, suffice to say widgets cannot be used in posts or on pages. Also I could do a better job of helping you if you provided me with (1) the name of the theme you have up and (2) the url to your blog. :)
Secondly, I do not know what “etsy mini” is but I do know if it is javascript, an iframe, form or an embed that wordpress.com programming will strip the code out to preserve security. At wordpress.com we are all working on a multi-user blogging platform and there are restrictions on what we can use. Do your have a link to “esty mini”?

Etsy is a site where people sell handicrafts. As such, an etsy widget would be a no-go here under the anti-selling clause of the terms of service. You could put a single text link to your page on etsy, but nothing more unless you’re in the VIP program.
