want to allow visitor to subscribe via RSS
-
Were you using the RSS widget, or did you do it as a text widget? The RSS widget is easier, but you HAVE to be precise with your typing.

Don’t use the text widget; there are just more things that could go wrong. Put the RSS widget in your sidebar and just put your OWN RSS feed in. Be sure not to have any extra punctuation or anything.
-
rain – that’s not correct. The FAQ says you cannot put your own feed into the RSS widget. http://support.wordpress.com/widgets/rss-widget/
To put your own feed in your sidebar, you have to follow the instructions here http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/23/put-your-feed-in-your-sidebar/ and use a text widget.
-
@wesley, that widget you put the link to the RSS icon in is an RSS widget, not a text widget.
Put a text widget into your sidebar, click “save changes”. Then click the edit button on the text widget, clean out anything that may be in it, and then paste the below into it:
<a href=”http://wesleysoccer.wordpress.com/feed/”><img src=”<a href=”http://your-blog-name.wordpress.com/feed”><img src=”image-location” /></a>” /></a> Subscribe to my feedYou can change the “subscribe to my feed to something else if you wish.
-
You also had this URL as your feed URL:
http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/a28.png/feed/which of course is not correct. -
I’m not sure how I got that so messed up. This is what it should be.
<a href=”http://wesleysoccer.wordpress.com/feed/”><img src=”http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/a28.png” /></a> Subscribe to my feed -
she has the RSS widget up and running now. Which is great cause the ” at the end of the URL was killing me for some reason.

The below was put into my test blog and works fine. You can see it in the bottom of the left sidebar in my test blog: http://opposablethumbz.wordpress.com/ .
<a href="http://wesleysoccer.wordpress.com/feed"><img src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/g28.png" alt="" /> </a> Subscribe to my feed -

I see what the problem was in my other code, the quote marks were not straight, but the curly one’s.
Stoopid internet.
