want to allow visitor to subscribe via RSS

You have to post code between backticks, the little marks on the same key as the ~ usually. So, backtick, code, backtick.
then it's like this -
Seriously, s/he had the RSS widget working, then took it out. It’s the easiest way to put your feed in your sidebar. You can see it on my site “Eat raincoaster Feed” it’s called.

Thank you very much everyone for the RSS help….wow…sorry for causing so much trouble….thanks again and if anyone has any other ideas for my blog let me know…I’ve only been up for one week today…
-
@vivian, I’ve been using the RSS widget with my own feed for two years. It works absolutely fine, although for whatever reason staff does not encourage it. And since there is only one thing to put in and a couple of formatting decisions, it’s easier.
Yeah, I know. But over time, we’ve gotten a LOT of folks for whom it doesn’t work. I have no idea why it works sometimes and not others. So best bet is to follow the FAQ.
-
That’s pretty radical advice!
I wonder if the failure is theme related? I’ll take a look; it certainly works smoothly enough for me. Most RSS feed issues turn out to be the wrong URL for the feed in the first place.
-
I’ve tried it and it works great! Also , I have been fooling around with a few other feed icons…..Not sure which one i will use….thanks for all the help…

Well… when I try to add the RSS feed the text widget is CHANGING the code I have added. It’s removing parts of code, or adding extra quotation marks… there aren’t mistakes I’ve made. These are things the text widget is doing. Any thoughts? I can’t leave a link up that doesn’t work.
-
AHHHHH!! Okay… I got the text link to work, but no graphic. Jeepers. This thing is ridiculous!
-
I am having problems doing this, I followed the instructions linked on here but instead of the RSS button appearing on my page its a little picture icon. It works when you click on it but I would rather it looked like the RSS butoon. Anyone know how to do this?
Any help would be very useful. :-) -
We cannot help without a link to your blog. And consider linking it in your user name as explained in the sticky, 8 Things, at the top of the forums.
-
Maybe this should be in a different forum . . but . . . I’ve gotten both the text widget and the RSS widget to work. The problem is that it only shows posts, not pages. Is there any way to RSS the pages?

can someone help? mine doesn’t seem like working right…
http://renechen.wordpress.com/
thanks! -
@filemate – pages are static, posts are not. That’s why there is no RSS feed for the pages. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/11/a-post-and-a-page/
@reneran – yours appears to be working fine. What do you think is wrong with it?

thanks, it does work! it seemed my internet browser wasn’t working properly back then. thanks!

I’m having problems with my RSS feed as well.
It looks like it works on my blog, but I try testing it by signing up to the feed on MyYahoo and MyYahoo says there’s an error. A friend signed up on Google’s feed reader and the feed is rendered as blank.
I’m using the text widget and following the directions here:
http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/23/put-your-feed-in-your-sidebar/Here’s my code:
<a href="//sandykory.wordpress.com/feed"><img src="//faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/c28.png" /></a> Subscribe to RSS FeedAny help would be very much appreciated!
