Want to build a new site in WP

    Want to transition site from Dreamweaver to WordPress. Can we build within WordPress.com then transfer files to our host?

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

    Hi there,

    Do you plan to host your WordPress site at another provider when it’s done, in other words, not here on WordPress.com?

    In that case it would be better to build the site directly at your host, or else using a local installation of the open source WordPress software.

    While we also use WordPress here on WordPress.com, we use a slightly modified version, and both because of those modifications and because of our hosting setup, it’s not possible to download all the files for a site hosted on our servers. Instead, you’ll be able to export only the content via a regular WordPress export file in XML format, while any design and customization work you’ve done won’t be exported.
