Want to buy a domain name but…

  Hello,
  I would like to know the consequences of switching from current faestwistandtango.wordpress.com to (buying) a domain name faemagazine.com.
  – when a person types faestwistandtango.wordpress.com in an address bar, will they get directed automatically to faemagazine.com?
  – I don’t want to lose my followers or anything else.
  – do I have to register for a new Avatar?
  – how does my post show on Reader?

  Yes – the change is seamless – all the old bookmarks will still work

  The Reader should be fine also

  I think the avatar will be fine since I think they are tied to your email –

  You will see a bit of a drop in search engine traffic for a few months (maybe 2 or 3) as search engines get used to the new name – but the old name will also work so nobody will get lost
