Want to cancel my account

    Hi. I made a mistake signing up for wordpress.com when I mean to sign up for wordpress.org. I purchased the small monthly package ($2.99?). How do I cancel my order and account? Thanks!

    Hello @randelportercounseling,
    WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all their upgrades except for Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours. The refund period for Guided Transfers ends 30 days after purchase or as soon as your site has been moved, whichever comes first.

    So, if it has not been 30-days since you made the purchase you can cancel your orders through the Manage Purchases section here: https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/

    re: Refunds
    You will be refunded to the same payment method you used for your purchase. After processing, refunds usually take about a week to appear on your statement. For credit card refunds, it may take 5-7 business days to appear on your online bank account or in 1-2 billing statements.

    re: Deleting Accounts
    Deleting Accounts includes a step to delete your sites, which can only be done if you have removed all your premium upgrades. So make sure your removed and cancelled all your premium upgrades and have been successfully refunded.

    That being said, WordPress.com accounts cannot be deleted permanently once created. But if you still wish to deactivate your account and leave WordPress, then follow the instructions given here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

    IMPORTANT NOTE:
    Even if you deactivate your account your username is not removed from the database, so that it’s not available to any other users when they are registering for a new account. This is done to keep you from being impersonated by anyone else.
