Want to cancel my first blog

Two years ago I set up a simple blog: “writerontheriver.wordpress.com”. Never used it. Now I want a more robust blog so I went thru Fat Cow and set up “writerontheriver.org”, but the URL is “writerontheriver.com”. (No “wordpress” in the URL)
Now a Google search of “writerontheriver” brings up both, and I want to delete the first one.

You can delete a blog deleted blog URLs here are not recycled. I suggest you simply make the blogs private rather. You can use it as a backup blog.

Note that Google only clears their caches every 3 – 6 months so that indexed content will still appear in search results until they do, even after the blog is deleted. -
If I make the first blog “private”, once Google clears their caches, will this “private” blog no longer be recognized by a search?
