want to change my current domain to ninanaomi.wordpress.com
-
How can I change my current free domain to another free domain name. I want to keep only one domain name: the new one. I want to keep my blog otherwise as is. When I type in the url “ninanaomi.wordpress.com” nothing comes up. Therefore I’d very much like to switch the one I have to this name since this what I always wanted but couldn’t get. And, I don’t want to have to build up a new blog from scratch; I like the one I’ve already established. I am setting up a serious business, I already have the domain name ninanaomi.com, however I want every post I write on either platform to post to the other. But first I badly, badly, badly need ninanaomi.wordpress.com. Please please please help me. Thank You.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi ninanaomirealities,
You can change your blog address quite easily to another WordPress.com domain.
Here is a link to the article which gives you full instructions on how to do it.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/Hope that helps.

http://ninanaomi.wordpress.com/ exists. It belongs to someone else. If you can find the owner and negotiate for it, fine. Otherwise you’re out of luck.

Dear Raincoaster,
I went to ninanaomi.wordpress.com, nothing exists there. No one seems to own it at all. I’m wondering if the domain got lost in the twilight zone or something. There used to be, back in April some blog up that seemed to never have been developed; now there’s nothing. How would I find a person who owns it if when I go to the website, nothing is there? Well let know whatever you might know. Also, sandymcfadden,
Thanks you I was able to change to ninanaomierealities from another one that I had just threw up to set up my blog. Thanks. -
Someone owns it. If you can find them and negotiate for it, fine. If not, you are out of luck. Staff will not assist.

I’m asking how can it be owned by someone when nothing is at the site? Can someone own a domain and blog where the page I see says “nothing found”?
I am new to the blogging world and don’t understand how it is being held by someone where nothing seems to be there. Like there is an error.

I’m asking for assistance in trying to understand ownership of domains of websites on wordpress.com. Is there some error at this domain? Or, is it in transition from someone who owns it (i.e. is there a waiting period from the time someone gives up a domain, to the time when it’s available to the general public)? If the answer to the latter question is “yes”, please tell me what is the waiting period timeframe in days, weeks, or months? Thanks. My apologies if I’ve caused you grief in my questioning.

Hi ninanaomirealities,
Here is another article that will explain things for you. http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/ The short of it though is that someone has a name registered it is theirs no matter what. Even if they don’t use it or put any information on the site.
If they delete the blog than the name is gone forever for no one to use again.
The only way would be if there was someone you could contact the person who has it and see if they would transfer it to you.
You could try going to http://ninanaomi.wordpress.com/about/ and leaving a comment to see if the person might get notified and reply to you.
The other option would be to register another custom domain name and use it as your address instead, then it doesn’t matter what the underlying WordPress.com address is.

Thank you sandymcfadden. As you can see, I’m not blog savvy. I will definitely read the info of the link you gave me. After some searching, I saw another person who had the same question I did, which helped me to not feel so badly. But that’s crazy if someone deletes a site, its domain is gone forever. What happens some 20+ years from now? No one will have any intelligible wordpress.com domains to come up with. I hope sometime in the future WordPress will change their policy on this. Thanks again.

I just read the link sandymcfadden. I take back what I said. It is good that deleting a site domain is a permanent action for the reasons WordPress gave on the article.
Well that wraps that up. Guess I’ll try contacting “nothing exists” and hope the owner will respond to me. Blessings.
