want to change URL

Hello,
I looked everywhere and can’t find my question, which is odd because I would think it quite common… so, sorry if I should have found the answer elsewhere.
I want to change my URL but not move my blog, like you can do easily with some other platforms. I don’t care about my username or any of that, I just mean the url xxxx.wordpress.com.
Can I do this easily? If so, where/how?
If not, can I create the new URL and import my old blog to it? Would it be exactly the same? Or at least the content? If I do this can I do it under my current username, or do I need to make a new one?

but i don’t want to buy a domain name. i want to change my URL from
afloatinglife.wordpress.com to somethingelse.wordpress.com
without effecting my blog. is that possible? am i missing sth really obvious?

There is no move function. You can achieve the same thing by exporting your blog, creating a new one with the name you want, then import to the new blog. You can then redirect your old blog to the new one if you have a lot of regular readers.
I did this a while ago, and it was very straightforward. The only downside it that you lose all blog and comment subscriptions. You can deal with blog subscriptions simply by posting in the old blog about the move – everyone will read it. I’m afraid that People following comments are just lost though

P.S. Don’t forget to delete or redirect your old blog or it will appear as duplicate content and affect your search engine rank. Here is an article about when I changed:
