Want to close account
-
I’m trying to close my account but the message ‘To close this account now, contact our support team’ leads me to this section. I see no other options in Account Settings.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
You can refer the following article on how to close your account here:Note : This not only shuts down your username, it deletes all the sites you own and all their contents. After a few weeks, this data will be entirely purged from our servers and the process cannot be reversed. Therefore, please be certain you want to cancel your entire WordPress.com presence before proceeding.
Hope this helps :)

Hello. First of all, Thanks for the prompt response. This is to inform that I still cannot close my account. The system keeps re-routing me here. What should I do? Again; …Thank you.

Hi there,
Your account is a contributor on a Business Plan site, loujounou.com. Please ask the site owner to remove you as a user on that site, then you will be able to close your account.
-
@kokkieh, if the user is unable to get in touch with the owner, which seems to be the case would they not be able to leave the site by following this guide? https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#leave-a-blog
-
@justjennifer, leaving the site on their own is not possible for sites on the Business plan. Those sites due to the fact that they allow the installation of plugins and themes are set up a bit differently.
-
Thanks for the clarification @fstat, but it seems a bit awkward for the user if they can’t leave a site they were added to and where they are not the site owner. Would Staff consider implementing a procedure whereby the user can be removed if they cannot remove him or herself *if there isn’t a procedure already in place*?
-
@justjennifer, this is due to the way unique way Business Plan sites with plugins work. On a stand-alone WordPress installation it’s also not possible to remove yourself from the site in this way, no matter your user level.
We know this is not consistent with how regular WordPress.com sites work, but at this time there is also no way around it. Any user on a Business Plan site can only be removed by another admin on the site, or in certain cases, by staff.
-
Thanks for the further clarification @kokkieh. I linked to the user’s other thread earlier but perhaps it was overlooked?
-
Thanks a lot @kokkieh and @justjennifer for the interesting exchange of ideas in regard to this unfortunate issue. This is the first time I find myself into a situation like this. Further details regarding this situation are gratefully welcomed in advance. Cheers-

@kokkieh and @justjennifer If the account is no longer needed, and there are no other sites in the account that the user wants access to, but there is no way to remove the user or shut down the account… could the user not create a throw-away gmail account, strip the WP account of any relevant information to the user, then change the email address and leave it be?
I understand it may not be a perfect solution, but could it be a sufficient workaround?
-
@manolocintron, have you contacted the site owner and asked them to remove you from the site? If so, what did they say?
-
Hello thesacredpath & Thanks a lot for your kind response. That’s I think the biggest problem When I’m on that website, there’s no links for anything except one labeled “Home” and an Ad. The rest is occupied by countless posts in foreign languages. I think they’re Czech, Ukrainian, Russian or something like that. It’s really frustrating. Again; …Thank you.
-
That is indeed one solution and can work in some cases. Thanks for suggesting it.
-
@manolocintron Sorry for perhaps stating the obvious, but in order to be added to a website on WordPressdotcom in any user role, the site owner has to invite you and you need to accept that email invite to be added to the website. Do you remember receiving such an email and confirming it?
In any event, the account you are posting to the forums from is only a day old. Is this the relevant username account or is it another one?
