Want to host on WP, but can't delete A record
-
My website has been hosted on a server other than WordPress for about a year now. We are trying to move our hosting back to WordPress, but are having insane difficulty doing this. I have no idea what I am doing, as I am not the person who migrated the site a little over a year ago. We have our domain registered with WordPress, and for simplicity purposes, we want to get it hosted back on WordPress again too.
First, I went under the name server menu, and changed the server from the custom option back to “Use WordPress.com name servers.”
Next, I went into edit DNS and tried to delete the A record that was pointing to the IP of this external server.
At first, I thought it had deleted, because it disappeared from the list and the only record left was the “handled by WordPress” NS record. But when I went back to the edit DNS page later, the A record was there again with the same IP address.
I have no clue what I am doing wrong, but it’s imperative that I get this site up and going before Monday.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

And for the record, the current server that the site is being hosted on must have crashed or something – we’ve gotten this “error establishing database connection” screen two times in the last month anytime we try to log onto our website. Hence, why we’re trying to switch back to WordPress for more reliable hosting.
