Want to host w/ WordPress but already have domain & run Genesis- $ difference?

I am running WordPress with the Genesis framework which is being hosted and supported by a friend, I have my own domain as well. I was wondering what the cost/pricint would be to switch to hosting and support through WordPress.com since I have already purchased some of the bonus features I would get if I was just coming in with a standard WordPress blog.
The site in question is NothingToDoInCU.com. I’m also running the Event Calendar from Modern Tribe.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please read this comparison http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ so your are crystal clear on the differences and also on the fact that no upgrade or bundle of upgrades changes anything stated there.

See here for details of all 3 plans http://store.wordpress.com/bundles/
Note that none of the plans allow you to run advertising or to upload your own themes or plugins or change anything stated here http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/.

WordPress.com blogs cannot be equipped for eCommerce transactions. If you need a site that requires a custom theme or plugins — e.g., if you want to be able to sell things directly from your site, or if you want to install discussion forums — a self-hosted WordPress site might be right for you.

I don’t necessarily want to sell things but it would be a nice option to be able to run ads.
I currently have hosting through a friend but hosting my site is a favor and not a job so he’s not very quick when I need things updated. But if you say that I wouldn’t be able to add plugins… that seems ridiculous and I wouldn’t really make sense to switch from free and slow to pay and so limited, especially paying again for some things I have already paid for like hosting.

I think this explains it in a way that makes more sense to me- http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/11/14/com-or-org/
Somehow that org vs com thing hurts my brain.

    re: plugins
WordPress.com is a multiuser blogging platform. Our blogs are not free standing. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we bloggers cannot install any plugins. There is no upgrade you can purchase that will provide FTP access and the ability to install plugins, upload themes, and/or edit templates and themes in a free hosted WordPress.com blog.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
To use plugins you must hire a web host and then set up your own WordPress.org install.

P.S. I’m glad to know you found the answers you could understand. Best wishes.

Depends – if you need a specific Plugin – then not so good – but there are many Plugin’s built in here, they are called Widgets & Short Code –

I find “no plugin’s” to be a non-issue for me and has not limited what I do here at all
