“Boosting a post” is a phrase that’s primarily used for increasing the visibility of a Facebook post. By design Facebook doesn’t automatically show all of your friends and/or followers everything you post – that’s why you have an option to “boost a post” and actually ensure that all of your friends and/or followers do see what you post. It’s all about increasing your reach. With that being said please note that all of that has nothing to do with WordPress.com :)
@ashleyrudy14 has already shared some fantastic articles with you about monetizing your site (i.e. how you can profit from blogging) and how you can, through the use of SEO, increase the traffic to your WordPress.com blog. So when you choose to “boost a post” on Facebook then you have to pay Facebook for that. That has nothing to do with WordPress.com and if you have more questions about “boosting a post” then you need to contact Facebook support and they can help you with that.
