Want to map my blog with new domain name

  HI All,

  Currently I am blog url is rakeshistom.wordpress.com, Now i want buy a domain and map it. I am planning to buy it fromwordpress. Below are the my queries request you to suggest me you though

  1) what about someone click on my old blog url shared in social media.
  2) What about my stats (blog hits)
  3) Do i need to start indexing again
  4) how does effect on Google search result, on my blog

  1. The purpose of domain mapping is to insure that when any of your original links are clicked on the internet no matter where they are those links seamless redirect to the new domain URLs.
  2. What about them? Nothing changes except the URLs.
  3. You don’t index – search spiders do. It will take 3 months or so until all your content is re-indexed by search spiders.
  4. See 1. above and know the answer is the same.

  In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/ and the domain name you desire must be available for purchase.

  After you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog from the blog’s dashboard at > Store > My Upgrades.

  Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
