Want to monetize my blog

I would like to monetize my blog through affiliate marketing. Right now, I have a wordpress.com hosted blog. If I switch to the .me offer that I am seeing on my dashboard, will they give me the option to use affiliate marketing links or sell my own product?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Affiliate marketing blogs are not allowed at WordPress.com. There is no blogger initiated advertising allowed and that includes paid or sponsored content and ad banners.
There is a single advertising program called WordAds, which you can read more about here: http://wordads.co/ But as I said above advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed. For full details, please see:

http://en.wordpress.com/tos/If you require other advertising, you might be interested in a self-hosted (WordPress.org) installation. There are no restrictions on advertising if you hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting and setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities. Please see this link to learn about the differences:

You can sell only products you personally create or services that you personally provide. Limited posting of affiliate links is possible. Please read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/affiliate-links/ closely.
WordPress.com allows bloggers to insert text affiliate links within post and page content to most third-party affiliate programs, provided they are not the primary content of the site in question.
Image affiliate links in posts and pages and any banners, affiliate links in sidebar or footer widget areas, are still considered to be advertising and are not allowed on WordPress.com blogs.
Only Blogs with the Business Bundle upgrade can equip their blogs for ecommerce.

If you have a shopping cart set up for your own products or services elsewhere online you can create a custom menu and include a custom link to it in the menu.

Thank you. I decided to set up a self-hosted site. I appreciate the quick response though.

Thank you. All this feels like a BIG step. If you can recommend the right forum for newbies to self-hosting their own site. I opted to register through wordpress.

If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.
