Want to move to WordPress.com from a self-hosted site on AWS
-
Hi, I have a self-hosted website on AWS that I am planning to move to WordPress.com. It runs on a custom theme (Elementor based) and has many plugins and setup done. Will I be able to run them on Business plan offered by WordPress.com? Will I lose on any feature from the current website if I plan to move?

Hi there,
You definitely have the option to move your site to us so we can provide in-house help, and we offer a migration plugin that will help you move your site to our managed hosting in just a few clicks. This will move an exact copy of your site with all uploaded themes, plugins, design settings, posts, pages, uploaded media, etc.

If anything, because we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, we provide built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions. It’s more likely that you will gain functionality instead of losing any. You can learn more about the performance and security benefits of our managed hosting here: https://wordpress.com/hosting/
I see you have already upgraded to the Business plan so you can proceed whenever you are ready using the plugin above. This will migrate your self-hosted site on to the staging subdomain you have on your WordPress.com account, and can use to get set up in private. When your copy of the site here looks as it should and you are ready to “launch” the new site to replace the current one, that is when you will want to “map” or transfer your domain to us as the final step.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
