want to open a new website

    Dear WordPress team,

    Greetings!

    I want to start a new website. Is it possible to make it myself. I have no web designing experience nor am I from any IT background.

    After visiting the wordpress and making the http://www.babiesclub.wordpress.com

    I have understood that

    1: I can register my domain name here and wordpress can become my host

    2: In my new website name, there would NOT be any extension like abc.wordpress.com

    3: I can buy a template, and with my content I can start making my own website. And the template is going to help me place the right thing at the right place

    4: Would I require any software engineer for that? OR I can keep changing thing as and when I want

    5: The website made through wordpress will be as good as a website designed and run by IT professionals

    Please help me, I will be grateful

    Yes, you should be able to run a website without having Webdesign and IT background. There are many ways you can get support here at WordPress.com to help you with it. The Support staff(email and Live Chat) support documents, the community. You would be getting recommendations to help you as per your needs. Here the different ways you can get help here:

    Yes, your right you can get rid of the WordPress.com extension by using a Custom Domain. Also, your hosting will be taken care as well. All the Paid Plans are including a your hosting and a Custom domain.

    There are number of Themes (templates) available for you to choose from. You can decide as per your liking. If you choose the Premium or Business plan all the themes, as well as Custom themes, will be available too.

    Hi again,

    On the templates part, I missed out on some information. You can choose from the themes, and replace the content with the content you would like. Ones you get started there are many guides to help you to get going, here are some useful support documents:

    Also, if you would like to have some Custom Design changes to the themes, they might be possible with Custom Design features.

    Hello Pavan, many many thanks for quick and clear answers that really helps.

    I have a couple of more questions

    1: How about SEOs if I am running it on my own with no other technician because it has to support my business

    2: Hope it will be dynamic and I can make as many changes as I want.

    3: And it can work like all normal websites

    For your first point, I have 2 URLs that will offer you a lot of information about SEO :

    I can tell you that WordPress is absolutely awesome and you don’t have to be a tech in order to create SEO friendly content/articles. When you have some time, just read the above articles.

    Regarding your other 2 questions, yes, with Custom Design feature you can personalize your blog’s look and feel with intelligent color tools, custom fonts, and a CSS editor that you can use for more precise control of your site’s design and it will absolutely work like all normal websites :)
