Want to purchase a new hosting mapped to existing domain

  Map your domain is showing $910 as the charges per year. Why is this so high? What is this cost? I have a domain that expires in Mar 2020. So did not want to transfer the domain, however mapping domain is $910????

  You have read it wrong. For domain mapping, all you need is any of the paid plans here at WordPress.com.

  Each plan comes with a free domain credit which can be used to register a new domain or map an existing domain.

  Hi there,

  What you are seeing is the cost of a paid plan, and it looks like you’re looking at the two-year option for our most expensive plan. You can also map a domain using just our Personal plan if that’s all you need.

  Each plan comes with a free domain credit which can be used to register a new domain or map an existing domain.

  This has not been the case since December last year. The free domain credit in a plan no longer applies to domain mapping, as domain mapping is now free for an unlimited number of domains as long as you have a plan, as mentioned in the support page you link to.
