Want to replace existing WordPress.com blog with redesigned WordPress.org blog
-
Hi there, I have a blog on wordpress.com but have just created a new template in wordpress.org (I’ve already imported all of my current content and its ready to go). I just want to replace my current wordpress.com blog with my new wordpress.org template/blog. I can’t seem to find that answer anywhere—how do I go about doing that? It’s all the same content, just a new template/look.
Thanks so much!

Hey there,
If you’d like your current WordPress.com blog to redirect to your new WordPress.org blog, the Site Redirect upgrade will work great for you.
As you have a domain name associated with your WordPress.com blog as well, you’ll want to transfer your domain to another registrar so you can point it at your new host.
Best,

Thanks, but I don’t want to redirect it to wordpress.org. My friend has set up the new template for me on her wordpress.org local server, so I am looking for instructions on how to move that over to my wordpress.com account/blog. Is this possible?

Hey there,
WordPress.com does not allow users to setup their own themes. You can select a theme from our gallery and customize it, but you will need to start mostly from scratch.

I totally understand that. I have an existing wordpress.com blog.
But my question is: Can I replace my existing blog in wordpress.com with a new one set up in wordpress.org? (as in can it be replaced so i can still access it through my wordpress.com site/account)?
