Want to restart a blog I deleted.

  Hello there

  I recently deleted my blog rather stupidly. I know I can’t get it back but I want to restart it but I cant work out how.

  My blog was anthonyjstewart.wordpress.com.

  I know that is gone but it should allow me to restart the blog using the same address as its how I log in but it wont let me, It says it already exists yet I can’t add to it and start from scratch.

  Can you fix this please.

  I’m sorry, but deleted blogs cannot be restored or reused. Deleting a blog is permanent and the name cannot be used again. There are several warnings about this on the Tools -> Delete Site page and in the help pages, and you are required to confirm the deletion by email.

  You can start a new blog by logging in to WordPress.com and then going to http://en.wordpress.com/signup/

  With any blog, you can also use your custom domain with Domain Mapping upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/

  I understand about the not being able to retrieve it but it doesn’t make sense that I can’t reuse the name. The name is no longer in use, the blog is gone so why not allow someone to reuse their old blog name? Technically it doesn’t make sense that it is not possible.

  Why is there a restriction?

  I read the explanation but it only applies to other people trying to clailm my old blog name which I can understand. However, it was my blog name I am trying to reclaim not someone elses. I understand there is nothing you can do and I understand the explanation for other people trying to claim pre existing blogs but for the owner to reclaim their blog name seems like it should be allowed.

  Oh well. I may go use Blogger this time.
