Want to speak to a someone
-
I try to find the chat button to talk to a real person but it keeps sending me to these forums. So how to I talk to an actual person, I have an issue with my account that a forum cannot help me with.

What is the address of your site? Livechat and email with staff is available if you have a paid plan. If you have a free plan you can still reach a member of staff here by adding the word modlook to the tag box on the right. Although perhaps if you say what the issue is with your account someone may be able to point you in the right direction.

Hi @sallsw, I can assure you both me and @themagicrobot are real people (unless you are a real magic robot?!) ;)
Let us know what do you need help with, no need to add
modlookanymore. -
Hi, thank you for your reply but will this be posted in a live forum? I need to be able to contact someone privately about logging into my account and do not want my information to be posted on a forum. Can I contact someone from WordPress by email? the live chat function doesn’t work.

Yes if you have a WordPress.com paid plan there is a blue button bottom right.

You are logged in to the sallsw account right now. What is the address of your site and what account are you trying to reach? If you are definitely talking about an account/site here then see:

I’m not sure if I have a paid account. The thing is, I use a different username and password to sign into my site, but when I try to sign in with it with WordPress directly it says it doesn’t exist. I’m not entirely sure where this sallsw account came from, whether it is old. The account I use is swdev, but it says this account doesn’t exist.. but I log into the admin page with this every day. This doesn’t make any sense.
I need to know where my swdev account is linked to – the password, the email address. It’s terrible that wordpress has no way of contacting anyone about their personal account details without having it posted on a public forum. Is there an email address that I can email? That would at least be somewhat more helpful than a forum. -
The
sallswaccount you’re using to post here only owns a free site, https://sallywrightflowerstudio.wordpress.com/, so does not have access to live chat.If that’s not the site you’re working on, can you tell us the URL of the site you are trying to access?
I need to know where my swdev account is linked to
There is an account on WordPress.com with the username
swdev, but we cannot tell you the email address associated with that account. If you don’t remember the login details for that account, the only way we can give you access is if you’re able to verify your ownership of that account via the account recovery process @themagicrobot linked to above.

Hi @kokkieh,
thank you for clarifying that. The account I use is swdev and I log in to that and my website sallywrightflowerstudio.com is programmed under that site. However, when I try to log on to wordpress.com with the swdev log in (to buy XERO plugin) it says it doesn’t exist… but I log in to the admin side of it every day. I need to know why this is happening. I tried the old email address of the site and thats how I got logged in as sallsw, but I’ve never used this one, that’s why I am very confused..
Do you know how I can log in to wordpress as swdev with the (email visible only to moderators and staff) email address? The password I use every day doesn’t work to log into wordpress.com -
Okay. There’s two different
swdevaccounts here. There’s the WordPress.com username account that I mentioned last week. That account is not yours.
The
swdevaccount that’s yours is the admin account for your site, sallywrightflowerstudio.com. That account is unique to that one site only, and has no connection at all to either WordPress.com or WordPress.org.Your site is not hosted with us on WordPress.com, but using the open source version of WordPress made by the people on WordPress.org, which you’re hosting at Hostgator.com.
However, when I try to log on to wordpress.com with the swdev log in (to buy XERO plugin) it says it doesn’t exist
Are you speaking of https://woocommerce.com/products/xero/ sold on WooCommerce.com?
You need to have a WordPress.com account to log in on WooCommerce.com, but that account doesn’t need to have any connection with your site, and doesn’t have to use the same username as the admin account for your site.
So log into WooCommerce.com using your
sallswWordPress.com account to buy that plugin. Then you’d log into your site’s admin dashboard using yourswdevusername to install and activate that plugin.Let me know if you have any questions about this.

To use the WooCommerce mobile app, you’ll need to install the Jetpack plugin on your site, and use that to connect your site to WordPress.com. Then you’ll log into the app using your WordPress.com username,

Important: if you want to upload files larger than 2MB (which is the limit set by your hosting provider) you have to contact your hosting provider. It’s NOT POSSIBLE to increase that hosting defined upload limit from a plugin.
How to upload bigger files ? -
For any one looking on, please note that following applies to WordPress.org, not sites at WordPress.com.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
The maximum upload limit at WordPress.com is already set to 1 GB. Again, the following is for WordPress.org sites:
The maximum upload size is controlled at the server-level, not by WordPress. Here are three ways you can increase the upload limit:
1. If you can edit or override the system php.ini file, increase the maximum file and post sizes. For example,
upload_max_filesize = 100M ;andpost_max_size = 100M ;2. If you cannot edit or override the system php.ini file, add
php_value upload_max_filesize 100Mandphp_value post_max_size = 100Mto your .htaccess file.3. If neither of these work, it’s time to ask your hosting provider to increase the maximum file and post sizes on your account. Keep in mind that most decent hosting providers allow this, and If your hosting provider won’t accommodate you, perhaps it’s time to find a new hosting provider.
(in the above examples, the limit is set to 100MB)
