Want to switch expiring inactive domain to the free wordpress.com status

  One of my domains, All good Things McHenry County, is about to expire. Since I’m not using it, I’d like to switch it over to the free wordpress.com status to keep the name alive, should I decide to use it again. I also want to make sure that this is not somehow connected to the blog I do use (Elizabeth Harmon Author) and don’t want to lose. Can you help? Thanks, Elizabeth Harmon

  Correcting the above post: the blog I need help with is All Good Things Mchenry County NOT elizabethharmonauthor.com elizabethharmonauthor.com is the blog I want to KEEP not switch to free status.
  This would be so much easier if I could just explain this to a live human being. So frustrated right now.

  Sorry to hear you’re frustrated! I can definitely help you here.

  So, you’d like to keep elizabethharmonauthor.com but not allgoodthingsmchenrycounty.com. The best starting point would be to switch the primary domain here:

  https://romanzwrtergrl.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains

  Then, once the domain expires, you can cancel it from your account here:

  https://romanzwrtergrl.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades

  Alternatively, if you’re positive you don’t want the domain allgoodthingsmchenrycounty.com any longer, I can cancel it immediately. This won’t have any effect on your site elizabethharmonauthor.com. Just reply back to confirm!

  I switched the primary domain from all good things to romanzwrter_grl.WordPress.com but what I really want is to keep the all good things name, just as a free WordPress.com domain. I like the name and may resume the blog at some point in the future, but don’t want to pay for something I’m not using. Has this change allowed me to do that?

  The domain allgoodthingsmchenrycounty.com is actually associated with the site romanzwrtergrl.wordpress.com. However, you have another site on your account with the address allgoodthingsmchenrycounty.wordpress.com. The allgoodthingsmchenrycounty.wordpress.com will continue to stay on your account (and will be free) regardless of what happens with allgoodthingsmchenrycounty.com.

  If you would like to keep the domain allgoodthingsmchenrycounty.com, you will need to pay the $18.00 to renew it.

  If you just want to keep allgoodthingsmchenrycounty.wordpress.com, there’s no cost attached. Does that help to clarify?

  Yes. I’ll keep the free WordPress.com and let the other expire. My author page isn’t affected by any of these changes…correct?
