Want to Switch to WordPress.org

  Greetings,

  I am a premium customer and I didn’t realize wordpress.com was so limited. I want to switch over to wordpress.com with more flexibility. How do I go through this process. I also purchased the premium package for a year with WordPress.com. Will I need to pay any additional fees? If so, why? I purchased and currently use the MH Magazine Theme. Will I still be able to utilize this theme? Are there themes that can be purchased via wordpress.org

  I’m sorry WordPress.com isn’t working out for you. You’re welcome to move your site to a self-hosted WordPress site, if you’d prefer. We also have details about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org that you can read about, if you want to learn more about that before you move your site.

  We have a guide for moving to WordPress.org with more details about that process — please let me know if you have any questions about that.

  If you move to a self-hosted site using the WordPress.org software, for added flexibility, you’ll need to purchase hosting with a website hosting company. Hosting a site using the WordPress.org software is separate from any upgrades you paid for your site hosted here at WordPress.com.

  I purchased and currently use the MH Magazine Theme. Will I still be able to utilize this theme?

  Premium themes are not able to be transferred or downloaded from WordPress.com to be used on a WordPress.org site.

  However, you can try asking the theme author if they would be willing to provide a discount coupon or the theme files for you to download and use on your self-hosted WordPress.org site. You can contact the theme author directly in the MH Magazine support forum about that.

  You can also search for WordPress.org themes at https://wordpress.org/themes/ or get more recommendations and tips about themes in the WordPress.org theme forum.
