Want to take over blog name

  I would like to start a blog but the name I want to use is taken (dearviolet.wordpress.com). When I look up that site, it apparently was reserved in 2005 but no entries were ever made. There is no contact info as far as I can tell. Is it possible to get an unused site name “recycled” and made available for use?

  It could very well be that the blog/account was created so that someone could get the API key needed to run Akismet and/or the blog stats plugin on their self-hosted blog.

  You can try leaving a comment on the blog. WordPress never deletes unused blogs. Only the blog owner can delete them or transfer them to another owner.
