Want to Use my WordPress Domain name for a different website

    Hi,
    I have a custom domain name for my wordpress.com blog http://emmameade.com/
    I want to set up a new self-hosted website that has nothing to do with wordpress and call it emmameade.com
    Can I change my wordpress.com domain name in order to free it up for the new website?

    I will still be using my wordpress.com as my primary blog but need to give it a different name.

    Any help/comments would be appreciated. I’m not very tech savvy.

    You can point your domain name at your new website by changing the nameservers. If the domain name was bought here then this is how you do it. If the domain name was bought elsewhere, then you will have to change the nameservers at that registrar.

    You might consider having your wordpress.com site as a subdomain of your new main site, something like blog.emmameade.com. That way the two are tied together better and your identity stronger.
