want to use sub domain to tumblr

  hello!
  i bought a domain on wordpress and i want to use the sub domain to my tumblr, but i don’t know how to set it up.
  i have tried change the CNAME but it didn’t work out

  would be very grateful if anyone can help me with this. thank you!

  hi, yes that’s what i’ve tried. but it’s not working at all.
  i also have tried to change the A records and points it to tumblr code/number but still not working.

  This was tricky when I tried to do it, too! There was a time lag for everything to update itself. I was making myself crazy, repeatedly testing the connection and having it fail. I had to wait overnight for it to resolve itself.

  You’ll want to remove that A record if it’s still in your Domains control panel on your WordPress.com account.

  If your subdomain here at WordPress.com is “blog.brendavania.com” you’ve probably figured out, your CNAME record here needs to look like:

  CNAME: blog alias of domains.tumblr.com

  The second step you have to complete over on Tumblr and the details are at:

  https://www.tumblr.com/docs/en/blog_management

  1. Click “Settings” under the Account menu at the top of the Dashboard, then choose the blog you’d like to update.
  2. Click the pencil to the right of the Username section (Tumblr URL section for secondary blogs) and enable “Use a custom domain.”
  3. Enter your domain (e.g., mywebsite.com) or subdomain (e.g., blog.mywebsite.com), then click “Test your domain.”
  4. Correct any problems if the test finds any, and click “Test your domain” until the test is successful.
  5. Hit “Save.”

  Hi,

  so i’ve tried it again, it actually successful, but when i click the sub-domain, the sub-domain leads to my primary domain which is brendavania.com aka my wordpress blog. is it strange or it’s normal?

  What is the subdomain url and what does your CNAME record look like when you check it?

  my subdomain is blog.brendavania.com
  i tried to change the CNAME record a while ago but it didn’t work out at all
  so i removed the CNAME record and changed it to the A record
  *i can’t change both at the same time*

  Tumblr wants you to use a CNAME record if you’re working with a subdomain. That A record may be why it’s not working right for you. Would you be willing to try the CNAME record method once more?

  i just did and i always got This subdomain’s CNAME is not pointing to Tumblr. Please change the CNAME to: domains.tumblr.com

  how many hours/days i need to wait until CNAME recognize that i already put my tumblr correctly? >.<

  I had to wait overnight – maybe 8 hours.
