WANTED: plugin to add meta tags

  Even though I am currently html illiterate and am very glad for WordPress.com’s ease of usability, I would love to learn to add meta tags to images or posts in WordPress.com. I’m currently unable to get Facebook to post the correct blavatar when I share a link to my blog, but I found a plugin for WordPress.org that promises to do everything I need http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/add-meta-tags/. Can we get it on the .com option too, please?

  You are confused. All “metadata” references are to WordPress>ORG installs. Metadata is found in the header section of blog templates and at WordPress.com we bloggers cannot access that area. This is a mulituser blogging platform and our blogs share a common architecture. All blogs wearing the same theme are using the same underlying template.

  There is no FTP access to our free hosted WorPress.com blogs and we bloggers can’t install plugins for security reasons. http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/ Also note that there is no upgrade you can purchase that allows FTP access and the ability to install plugins. Only those with WordPress.org installs can use plugins http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  Metatags are not added to posts or images. We add categories and tags to posts.

  OK, thanks. I know I couldn’t work out how to add meta data to anywhere in the blog, but figured that was just because I didn’t have the skills. The tags and categories don’t help me with Facebook, which apparently requires a website to identify, via meta tag, the open graphic image that it should display with a given link. Guess I’ll just have to accept whatever Facebook gives me. (Which, at the moment, appears to be the first image in the gallery for the post).
