Wanted – Script to put in my blog that will open a pop-up window?

    For the last hour and a half I have looked every where to find the answer to this question.

    I would love to know a script I can use in my wordpress.com blog that will allow a pop up window to appear. When someone clicks on a link on my blog I want it to open a pop-up window that will apear in front of every thing else on the screen. How can I do this? What does the script look like?

    p.s it took me 15 min to figure out how/were to go to even ask this question. I must be blind. Where is the ‘Ask question’s here’ or ‘Ask the forum a question’ button?

    Rebecca,
    copy this code exactly. When you click on the link it will open up another window and load. Type in the URL you want to go to where it says http://www.example.com and replace “Simple Link’ with what you want your link to read.

    <A HREF=”http://www.example.com/”target=”_blank”>Simple Link</A>

    You cannot use scripts on wordpress.com blogs. You can use the target attribute on links to make them open in a new window. [edit: as described in the answer above mine]

    In order to ask a question on one of the forums here you have to choose the forum from the list at the bottom of the main page (Support, Widgets, Questions, CSS Customization, Ideas, Off Topic), click on the one you like and then use the link “Add new topic »” beside the header “Latest Discussions”. Exactly as you did to post this very question.

    You cannot run scripts on your WordPress.com blog. You cannot make pop-up boxes here. Why don’t you just make a page on Google Docs or something and put a link to it in, setting it to open in a new window?

    Thank you all. I know how to make it open a new window (or tab). I was wanting a pop-up. But it sounds as though it can’t be done here. Thank you for replying. And thank you isadora, I was afraid I would not be able to find my way back to ask more questions in the future if I needed to. cheers
