Wanting to add a diary to my blog menu

  Hi
  I am hoping i am going to be clear in my description here….i know dairies on called blogs on here…but i also know that websites are called blogs too…

  now, i cant find another one to show as an example, but what i want is to add onto my main menu, the word blog (hate that word but diary doesnt seem to be the appropriate word on the internet. I want then to be able to click on the word BLOG and it takes the reader (Or myself) to my future diary or thoughts on things

  now I attempted to have a go at this, ive looked round the wordpress site but cant find what i am looking for – this could have something to do with my lack of technical ‘Know words for the internet’ ie looking for the word blog in place of Diary but also finding it can be used for sites as well! I ve also attempted to write the word BLOG on a page, put it on my menu but then when I try to click on it, all i achieve is going to a fresh screen which reads BLOG :( not what i want at all :((

  So now I am turning to you guys for help, can you help me in my mission to set up a diary/blog for my website?
