Wanting to post pictures in different format

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

    This is my blog:

    janaemonir.wordpress.com

I posted last week about my pictures opening behind my sidebar when clicked; that still hasn’t been fixed (I can’t figure it out), but now I have a new issue. I would like to be able to format my pictures so that they are side by side and on top of each other (2×2), as seen here:

This simply won’t work with the gallery setting. Is there any way to format picture size, position, etc using code?

    Thanks :)

First off, the two images have to be sized so that the total width of the two images are less than the total width of the post area. The post area width in Simpla, the theme you are using is 500px which means for two images per row, you should size them to 240px widths. You them insert them using the “none” image alignment” setting. Insert one, then insert the other, then the other, etc.

Alternately you can use an HTML table to do this but those have to be hand-coded in HTML or you have to use one of the online HTML table generators to create the base code and then you have to insert the images into the cells either by writing the image link code in HTML or by inserting them with the image insert function in the visual editor. Sometimes things flake out a little and you have to edit things in the HTML tab to get things to align properly and fix things when it goes wonky.

Thank you! I will try the first option, and see how that goes :)

PS. Worked wonderfully, thanks again. Now, just have to figure out how to size them so they all match… (I use an aspect ratio calculator but even if their widths are the same, the heights can vary… it’s always something, LOL)

Yeah, getting them all the same size can be frustrating. In Photoshop, you can set a width, height and DPI for the crop tool, and then you can crop images to exactly all the same size and height and maintain proportions. I don’t know if some of the freebee image editing offerings out there have that feature or not. If one were to have it, it would be GIMP. Not sure what you are using for an image editing program.

GIMP does have the set DPI and keep the proportions proper – it is free – I use it on a regular basis and like it – I am not all that good with it but it is capable of doing most anything you want with an image.

Hey, thanks! I’ve not tried GIMP, but I will check it out. Currently using picnik for adjusting exposure/color/etc.

    Thank you!!
