Wanting to transfer from Weebly to WordPress

Hello, I am hoping someone can help me.

I have been blogging for two years on Weebly and recently I have honestly had enough of it. I would really like to transfer my blog over to WordPress, however any tutorials I have found are either outdated or only work for non-blog weebly sites.

I would like to transfer to WordPress and keep all of my blog posts. Is this possible? I have probably close to 500 blog posts on my site, so I obviously do not want to lose all of my hard work over the last two years. Any help would be appreciated.

    Terri.

  • It is possible to transfer your Weebly blog here but would involve a whole lot of proverbial elbow grease. Because Weebly doesn’t allow you to export your blog posts into an XML file, you have no way to then import them into your WP site.

I would suggest that you investigate setting up a WordPress.org site. Primarily, this is a site that is hosted on third-party servers (like Bluehost, HostGator, etc.) rather than here at WordPress.com. While there is a steeper learning curve and a lot more involved in getting it set up and running, you have a lot more freedom and flexibility in your site’s layout and functionality.

I’d start by reading this article and then go from there.

I’m sure this wasn’t the simple answer for which you were hoping, but it is the answer. You are right to want to move to WP and with a little work, you will quickly see why.

    Good luck and happy blogging!
