Warning notice?
-
Hello WordPress. How are you? I’m just wondering if you happen to know why I keep getting a warning message saying that the site is not safe and that someone may be attempting to steal my information. I was just checking it out on several computers and none would allow me to proceed. Could it be the network they’re on? I was at Best Buy. I have looked it up successfully at BB before.
Thank you

Hi there,
Your site at https://midmiocene.wordpress.com/ loads normally and without any warnings for me.
Yes, the page wouldn’t load. I tried several different computers and several different WordPress sites.
Are all these computers connected to the same network? If multiple sites won’t load it would indicate a problem with your network, or possibly your ISP.
Please try unplugging your modem/router for a few seconds to reset it. If that doesn’t work, please check if using a completely different network, like free wifi at a library or coffee shop, helps, or see if you can load the site if you use a VPN.
If a different network or a VPN works, it’s a problem with your ISP, in which case you need to please report this directly to them.

Thanks kokieh. It was at a Best Buy store. WordPress normally loads fine for me at home. I was fiddling with the site at BB (I went in for a different reason) and that’s when it occurred. It’s just there at BB (that I know of) that there’s a problem. So maybe something in their network – though other internet pages loaded fine. Anyway, I’m not terribly concerned, I was just curious what the problem is.
Thanks again.

It sounds like Best Buy might then be blocking WordPress.com on their network. We often get included when companies block “social media” sites on their internal networks, likely not realising that WordPress.com includes everything from personal blogs to thousands of business websites and some of the biggest news websites in the world.
Or else someone found an objectionable site on WordPress.com and blocked it’s IP, not realising that doing so could potentially block thousands of other sites sharing the same IP address.
Either way, we can’t do anything about it from our end. You should be able to get around such blocks by using a VPN, though (which is generally a good idea when browsing on wifi networks you don’t control :) )
