Warning: touch() [function.touch]: Unable to create file
-
I was able to post in WordPress which I had installed on my GoDaddy.com hosted web site. However, whenever I attempted to change the theme using my interface, I received the below message. I had tried searching for this error in the GoDaddy and WordPress forums, but I did not get any returns.
“Warning: touch() [function.touch]: Unable to create file D:Hosting5889815htmlblog/wp-content/evanescence.tmp because Permission denied in D:Hosting5889815htmlblogwp-adminincludesfile.php on line 199
Download failed. Could not create Temporary file.”I finally stumbled upon the solution, without any useful help from WordPress or GoDaddy. I found that I did not provide Write permissions for WordPress in my GoDaddy account. To fix this problem:
- Sign in to the Hosting Control Center
- Click the File Manager button
- Select [Root]
- Click the Permissions button
- Select the “Write” checkbox
- Click the “OK” button
So if you are receiving the error and you are hosting on GoDaddy.com, that is the solution.

Sorry, you are in the wrong forum and need to head over to http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG are supported.
These forums are for those hosted here on the wordpress.COM free hosting service and things here work differently and our answers typically will not work for you.
If you do not know the difference, see this support document: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ .

Do you realize that you posted this in the wrong Forum? This is for sites hosted on WordPress.COM not Godaddy. The hint should have been posted at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using: http://wordpress.org/support/
