  I think I’ve said it all in the title. I am so confused.

  As I said: I was locked out, and now I’m back in. I’m worried about what happened, but I don’t want to clog up the support feed.

  So, I’m not going to mark this as resolved because it isn’t— I need to know what happened, but I do not need an official or unofficial response personally to my question.

  I’m just waiting for some official WordPress-wide announcement.

  Possibly, I can’t for sure. It was a system-wide issue. Looks like a minor change accidentally did something major instead.
