Was there a change to the comment system today?

  In the last 24 hours, there has been a change in how the comment system works for my blog. Whenever I try to comment now, instead of only commenting with my WordPress account, there are all sorts of completely meaningless options for giggle and tweeter and whatever other social media that I have absolutely no interest in. Worse yet, apparently it’s expecting me to do something with these things as I cannot comment directly on my blog pages any longer. The only way I can comment now is by using the response option in the activity monitor.

  Can someone assist me to remove all the extra meaningless options that are keeping me from commenting directly on my own blog?

  @farmerbob1,
  Perhaps you’re referring to the Sharing buttons. Did you enable them recently?

  No, and I’m only seeing the weirdness on Chrome, not Internet Explorer

  Without doing anything at all, I can now comment on Chrome, but it’s still showing all the other meaningless options. At least meaningless to me.

  Can you take a screen shot of them and let us have a look at it? You can use Snaggy, for example.

  With Google Chrome I see, above your comments, “Share this:,” followed by Sharing Buttons for Press This, Twitter, Facebook, and Google+. You also have WordPress.com Reblog and Like buttons. All six of these can be disabled at Settings > Sharing.

  Correction:
  I saw those six buttons with Firefox 33.1.1, not Google Chrome. With Chrome I saw only four buttons. The Press This and Reblog buttons were missing.
