wat happens to domain name if i change the service?
-
Hi
If I take up the upgrade domain option ($15), then I get the domain name and domain mapping. This is fine. If in some time in future, if I try to change the service, i.e. shift all my blogposts to other services like blogger or some other services, what will happen to my domain name?? of course, nothing can be done with domain mapping in this case.
Will WP.com continue to be my domain registrar for my domain name?
Thanks in advance.

Once you purchase your domain name you own it. WordPress.com does the domain mapping and you can repoint it to a new registrar after 60 days. http://faq.wordpress.com/tag/domain-mapping/ https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=4766

i have purchased a domain from wordpress.com and i have deleted the entire blog. And after a few days, i registered another blog from wordpress too but this time the domain name just doesnt work. It wont point to my new wordpress blog. So retry to add domain to my blog again, error message poppep out saying that the domain has already been mapped to wp.
What can i do now?I need the domain name to be pointed to my new wp blog.

You are going to have to contact staff about that when they reopen on Monday. Volunteers in the forums have no access to that stuff.

You will probably, though not necessarily, have to pay again. Upgrades are per blog, not per domain name or account.

yeah ok, but I have the same proble… you cannot pay a domain that WP cannot add…
it’s madness, why I cannot remap another blog in MY domain.. I mean, that’s MY domain, so WP, why you do as you wish with it?!
